Geodorum neocaledonicum

(Pink Nodding Orchid)

This terrestrial orchid is found in the drier lower areas of the D'Aguilar Range. The plant is deciduous and only emerges in the wetter summer months, then produces a flower stem about 30cm tall. It is topped by  pink flowers in January/February.

Pollinated by small native bees, the flowers are narrow-opening.
